After a great conversation about learning English with #Gordon I thought I’d post this fun poem about English.
A verb is what
a noun always does,
when a noun does
what nouns must do.
Of lilacs and roses the bee might fly, to take his fill with gusto and dew.
The prepositions here are
“of” and are “with”,
while the article “the”
fixes our gaze.
And “might” means unknown,
Though soon to be shown,
Through the pollen and haze.
This poem is filled with rules and with meaning,
Like how “is” helps “filled”
be a verb that is grown.
For alone it is weak
It cannot bear meaning,
And must grow with “is”
Like a seed that is sown.
So learn these few lessons,
And long may you talk,
With clarity and diction,
That sings as you walk.
A verb is what
a noun always does,
when a noun does
What it always must do.
